Participant Code of Conduct

Participation in an Ortega Brothers LLC, Colombian Fest and CafeRun 5K and/or an affiliate (the “Event/CafeRun”) other event (“Events”) is a privilege. Participants must exhibit the necessary professionalism and maturity to be successful in this pursuit. The following Participant Code of Conduct shall apply at all Events.

As a participant in Events, I agree to abide by the following Participant Code of Conduct (this “Code of Conduct”):

1.     I will conduct myself, at all times, in an appropriate, professional and sportsmanlike manner, and will treat all teammates, competitors, officials, staff members and others involved in the Event/CafeRun (“persons”) with courtesy and respect. 

2.     I will take no action (or omit to take any action) that causes (or may cause) public embarrassment for myself, Event/CafeRun and/or any of their respective affiliates, or that brings (or may bring) myself, the Event/CafeRun and/or any of their respective affiliates into disrepute in the community.

3.     I will respectfully follow the instructions and requests of staff members and other adults associated with the Event/CafeRun.

4.     I will follow all applicable laws while participating in Events and any other rules, regulations, policies, trainings, manuals and directives. provided by the Event/CafeRun.

5.     I will abide by all applicable event, facility and Event/CafeRun rules and will act in a manner that is respectful of the Events that I am attending and towards the Event/CafeRun and its facilities. I will show respect for all event facilities by picking up after myself and disposing of trash as directed by the event or Event/CafeRun staff members.

6.     I will not discriminate against or harass any teammate or other person based on their race, color, religion, marital status, ancestry, citizenship, veteran’s status, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, protected activity, or any other characteristic protected by law, engage in any form of racism or publicly incite others to hatred or violence, and I will immediately report any acts of discrimination, harassment, racism or incitement by myself or others to Event/CafeRun staff members.

7.     I will, at all times, use language that is appropriate. I will not use obscene, profane, or vulgar language, gestures, or curse words. I will not use slurs, phrases or gestures which denigrate ridicule or mock a person or persons based upon the characteristics set forth above or based on economic status, political affiliation, or any other social category and/or defining characteristic. I will immediately report any prohibited acts by myself or others to Event/CafeRun staff members.

8.     I will not bully or haze (physically, verbally, sexually, via social media or otherwise) any teammate or other person, and I will immediately report any bullying or hazing by myself or others to Event/CafeRun staff members.

9.     I will not steal, harm, or damage the property of others (Chicago Park District, off-site locations, etc.), including property of the Event/CafeRun, in connection with or during any Events. I understand and accept that if I steal, harm, or damage any such property, I will be responsible for paying for any and all replacement, damage and repair costs that result.

10.   I will not intentionally injure or harm other persons during any Events. I understand and accept that if I intentionally injure or harm any person, I will be responsible for paying for any and all medical costs and other damages that result from such injury or harm.

11.   I will not, under any circumstances, possess or use any alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs (including, without limitation, prescription drugs not properly prescribed by a medical doctor), at any time, during Events.

12.   I understand and accept that if I am dismissed from Events, I will not be allowed onsite until a staff member has approved my return and my Event/CafeRun payment will not be refunded.

13.   I understand and accept that once the Event/CafeRun has started, my payment will not be refunded. All sales final no refunds.

I understand that violating this Code of Conduct in any respect, implied or otherwise, may or will result in consequences, including, but not limited to, removal from Event/CafeRun and their facilities.

All punishment and penalties will be determined in the sole discretion of Event/CafeRun staff and are final and non-appealable. The Event/CafeRun reserves the right to amend, modify or otherwise supplement this Code of Conduct from time to time in the Event/CafeRun’s sole discretion.
